October 2 2016

I have been having a wonderful weekend with the Alecci Family. Their daughter Maria-Sofia is in the third year at my school. Saturday morning, after having my first American Coffee in a month,  I went to school on the back of Maria-Sofia's scooter! Something that is so normal for everyone here, is still so exciting for me!

At dinner the night before I had mentioned that I really missed baking cookies, so because they are so awesome, we got all the ingredients! Sadly Maria-Sofia already had plans that afternoon, so I called Matilde. Because brown sugar does not exists in Italy we whipped together some cane sugar and molasses. No one had ever seen molasses before and they all thought it was very weird. We also didn't have an electric mixture so we mixed everything by hand and instead of classic chocolate chips we had to cut up a chocolate bar. It was a ton of fun.

After enjoying our cookies with both tea and milk, Matilde and I got ready to go to the center to meet up with some friends. At the center we went to a cute little bar that serves drinks with candy (Mine was non alcoholic, don't worry rotary) and then went on a little walk.

While on the walk my family FactTimed me because they were all together at my Grandma's house for Rosh Hashana (Shana Tova Everyone!). It's my first holiday away from home, and my first Rosh Hashana with out my mom's honey cake, so I am a little sad, but I am very loved and well taken care of here.

This afternoon I am meeting some friends at a tea shop, and we are going to celebrate with some apples and honey, and later I will do the same with the Alecci's.

I have to head out now, but I will add the photos tonight!
